Globally, an estimated 59,000 people die from rabies each year, with over 95% of these deaths occurring in Africa and Asia, particularly in poor, rural areas. This tragic toll persists despite the availability of effective dog vaccines that have been on the market for decades but often fail to reach the communities most at risk.
In response, USAPA launched a Community Rabies and Population Control initiative to empower individuals, civil society, and communities to combat rabies sustainably. By working closely with local governments and utilizing the One Health approach alongside proven best practices, the initiative delivers much-needed rabies prevention solutions to vulnerable areas in Uganda.
